Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC) lets you link a Lightning wallet you already use, like Alby, Mutiny, or Zeus, straight to your Bitrefill account. Once it's connected, you can pay for gift cards, top-ups, and eSIMs without copying invoices or scanning a new QR code every time. Connect once and it stays connected across web and the app.
What you need
- A Bitrefill account
- A Lightning wallet that supports NWC (most self-custodial and semi-custodial wallets do)
- A few minutes
Steps
- Log in to your Bitrefill account on web or in the app.
- Go to Settings > Wallets and find Connect a wallet.
- Choose Nostr Wallet Connect.

Get a connection string from your Lightning wallet. In most wallets this is under "Connections" or "Nostr Wallet Connect." Your wallet will show a QR code or a
nostr+walletconnect://string. - Connect it to Bitrefill. Scan the QR code with your phone, or paste the connection string if you're on desktop.
- Approve the connection in your wallet app. You'll usually get to set a spending limit here. Set one you're comfortable with. It's your wallet, your rules.
- Confirm on Bitrefill. You'll see your wallet listed as connected, and it'll show up the same way whether you're on the website or the app.
Good to know
- Your connection syncs automatically. Connect once, use it anywhere you're logged in.
- You can revoke access any time from your wallet app. Bitrefill never holds your keys.
- If a payment fails, check your wallet's spending limit first. That's the most common reason.
