Using a Virtual Prepaid Visa Card

  • Updated

The Virtual Prepaid Visa can be used for purchases anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted within the United States. However, there are a few important details to keep in mind to ensure your transaction goes through smoothly.

Where You Can Use It

This card functions like a standard Visa debit card, but certain types of transactions may be declined. These include:

  • Subscription services

  • Purchases involving restricted products or services

  • Transactions that require a pre-authorization amount greater than the card’s balance

Use It as Credit

Although it is a debit card, it must be processed as credit at checkout. Selecting debit may cause the transaction to fail.

Why a Payment Might Not Go Through

Some common reasons for declined transactions include:

  • The merchant does not accept prepaid cards

  • The purchase is for a restricted product or service

  • The transaction amount exceeds the card balance

  • The card was processed as debit instead of credit
